About The Merani Group

Our Roots

Merani Group is built on generations of craftsmanship, mechanical skill, entrepreneurship and a deep respect for the trades. Our story begins in Baltimore, Maryland, where a family legacy in plumbing, mechanics, and hands‑on problem‑solving shaped the foundation of who we are today. That legacy continues in Texas, where Merani Group is now headquartered and growing.

Our Founder’s Story

Early Exposure

Born in Baltimore, our founder grew up surrounded by the trades in every possible way. His father worked as an automotive and marine mechanic, later opening his own car and boat repair shop. Many childhood afternoons were spent there, watching engines being torn down and rebuilt, learning how problems reveal themselves through sound, smell, and touch. It was his first introduction to the honesty of mechanical work—the kind where results can’t be faked.

At the same time, another part of his world revolved around Tharco, the commercial plumbing and mechanical contracting company founded by his maternal grandfather in 1977. In that office, he spent hours at his grandfather’s drafting table, playing with stencils, pencils, scale rulers, and blueprints. Long before he understood mechanical design, he absorbed its romance—the precision, the planning, the quiet ritual of turning ideas into systems that actually work.

He also spent a great deal of time in the office with his mother, who served as Tharco’s controller. While she managed financials and operations, he helped with practical tasks: making photocopies, filing documents, and stuffing envelopes. These weren’t just chores—they were early lessons in the administrative backbone that supports every trade operation.

Together, these experiences formed a three‑sided foundation:
The mechanical world from his father, the craftsmanship and design language from his grandfather, and the financial/operational discipline from his mother.
His childhood immersed him in the trades—hands‑on, behind‑the‑scenes, and everywhere in between.

The Entrepreneurial Influence

Entrepreneurship wasn’t an abstract concept in his upbringing—it was the norm. His father’s repair shop embodied the courage it takes to build something from nothing: diagnosing tough problems, standing behind the work, and earning customers through skill and honesty. That example revealed what it means to take ownership of your craft.

His mother lived entrepreneurship in her own way. In addition to managing Tharco’s finances, she consistently found creative ways to support the family—small ventures, clever solutions, and an unfailing determination to make things better than they were. She taught resilience, resourcefulness, and the quiet power of persistence.

His father taught him to build with his hands and trust his ability to solve complex problems.
His mother showed him what it means to think ahead, stay disciplined, and adapt creatively when challenges arise.
Together, these influences shaped a mindset defined by grit, curiosity, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Learning On Site

By fourteen, he was working in the plumbing trade as a helper and quickly advanced to an apprentice. During school breaks, he worked on job sites; consequently, he gained hands‑on experience building condos and commercial spaces and learning from skilled tradesmen across multiple disciplines. These early experiences instilled a deep respect for craftsmanship and the value of doing things the right way.

Broadening into Industry

After exploring mechanical engineering in college, he realized his path was hands‑on. He built experience across mechanical and industrial environments, working with complex electrical systems, heavy equipment, and large‑scale manufacturing processes. In 2014, he founded DC Engineering Works LLC, providing industrial machinery repair and design services across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, Chicago, New Hampshire, and Florida.

Keeping it in the Family

Meanwhile, he also had a supporting role in Merani Construction LLC, a family‑owned residential remodeling and light construction company founded by his father and brother. In this role, he oversaw trade work, coordinated construction services, and provided technical guidance to young apprentices on new construction and renovation projects.

A Texas Chapter

A pivotal opportunity brought him to Texas to rebuild a machine for a steel products manufacturer. That project led to a full‑time leadership role as Vice President where he spent six years managing complex manufacturing initiatives.

Home and Family

Texas also brought something far more meaningful: he fatefully met his wife. She grew up in California. They met in the middle in their own way. Today, they have put down roots in Terrell, Texas. Moreover, they are restoring a property that now serves as Merani Group’s base of operations. And together, they continue building a life shaped by gratitude, craftsmanship, and the quiet poetry of new beginnings.

Where We’re Headed

Even after years in manufacturing leadership, he felt the pull back to his roots—the trades, hands‑on problem‑solving, and entrepreneurship. Merani Group is the natural evolution: specialized service divisions guided by one standard of craft and accountability. With practical experience across repair, renovation, and new builds, he leads a team built to pivot quickly, solve hard problems, and deliver with precision.
